ENDERS 6: I Wonder What Robert Barry is Thinking Right Now
Call for submissions
ENDERS 6: “I Wonder What Robert Barry is Thinking Right Now”, is an exhibition that will be realised in the form of a screenplay made available online and as a short run of publications.
Contributing artists are invited to submit an artwork that will become a ‘scene’ in the ‘script’ that will form the show.
Art practitioners from all visual arts backgrounds and mediums are welcomed. This is not a show exclusively for writers/conceptual artists; in fact the success of this project may rest on the relationships struck up by varying mediums being represented in text appearing along side each other.
Usually screenplays detail the action and dialogue carried out by, or that surround characters in a film. Please feel free to use, bend or reject this model in order to explore the possibilities and restrictions of text to represent/describe a work of art when the actual work is unavailable/impossible to see/can never be physically produced.
Submissions might be anything from descriptions of existing, idealised, or dreamt artworks to details of instructions for an artwork’s production. Anything that might allow the exhibition’s ‘visitor’ to find themselves in a position, when reading the screenplay to imagine the artists intentions as fully as possible.
Please be aware that all submissions should only consist of text. No images or anything of a graphic/pictorial nature will feature, and all submissions will be formatted into accepted US/UK industry standard screenplay format. Meaning that variations in typeface, font size and idiosyncratic placement of letterforms will not figure in the final publication – It’s not visual text poetry. The aim is that the essentials of the work will be translated via text in a form as close to pure information (!) as possible. It will look like a standard screenplay.
Many Thanks
